Help with LightPulse

Contact is first. The common questions are below it.

LightPulse was called HeartSnap until 29 September 2026. Only the name changed.

Taking a measurement

LightPulse measures your pulse with the rear camera and flash. Each heartbeat changes how much light passes through your fingertip, and the app reads that change.

  • Cover both the rear camera lens and the flash with one fingertip.
  • Use gentle, steady pressure — pressing hard flattens the signal.
  • Rest your hand on something and keep still for the full 15 seconds.
  • The flash stays on the whole time. The phone getting slightly warm is normal.

A physical iPhone with a flash is required. LightPulse cannot work on iPad or in the Simulator.

If something goes wrong

When a measurement can’t be completed

The signal was too noisy to trust, so LightPulse stopped rather than guess.

Almost always one of: the fingertip is not covering both the lens and the flash, the hand is moving, or the pressure is too hard or too light. Rest your elbow on a table, cover both, and try again.

A wrong number would be worse than no number.

The camera doesn't start

LightPulse needs camera permission. Open Settings → LightPulse on your iPhone and turn Camera on. There is nothing to allow beyond that — LightPulse has no microphone, location, or contacts access.

My measurements are missing on another device

Measurements sync through your own private iCloud database. Check that both devices are signed into the same Apple Account with iCloud Drive on. If the app shows a paused-sync notice, signing back into iCloud will let it upload.

Is LightPulse a medical device?

No. LightPulse is a wellness app: it does not diagnose, treat, or monitor any condition. It measures the light passing through your fingertip and refuses any measurement it cannot trust rather than guessing. If a measurement concerns you, talk to a doctor rather than to an app.

LightPulse Plus

LightPulse is free, with three measurements a day. LightPulse Plus removes that limit and adds your full measurement history and the Insights screens. It is an auto-renewing subscription, and the plans and their prices are shown before you buy.

  • Restore a purchase — Settings inside the app → Restore purchase. Use the same Apple Account you bought with.
  • Cancel or change plan — this is handled by Apple, not by us: iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal and Plus stays active until the period ends.
  • Refunds are also Apple's to issue, at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Free measurements reset at midnight, local time.

Your data

Measurements are stored on your device and in your private iCloud database, which we cannot access. There is no account and no sign-up. Crash reports and usage diagnostics are covered in the privacy policy, which is the authoritative description of what is collected.

You can erase everything from Settings → Delete all my data inside the app, including the option to remove samples written to Apple Health.
